Natural Resource Based Livelihoods
GDS works with rural communities, farmers with marginal and small land holdings and those dependent on agriculture and farming for their livelihoods. Under this, GDS’s focus has been on small ruminants as well as large ruminants. One of the unique features of the component is the promotion of community-based systems for livestock healthcare and breed improvement management, in this GDS has promoted cadre of paravets, for large ruminants and Pashu Sakhis for goat-based livelihood promotion.
Livestock Based Livelihood
This initiative of GDS is designed to address issues faced by marginalized livestock rearing communities. The initiative is focused upon large as well as small ruminants creating network or Paravets, for sustained delivery of essential livestock management.
